MRC 2009
The Mountain Radio Challenge.

Received this email off Tony, the director of The Mountain Radio Challenge.

MRC 2009 in less than 5 months

Hello All,

Its now less than 5 months until MRC2009 (Nov 28th), and I have been chatting to a few of you about it, including some new people. I've made a few updates to the website at
www.mrc.cat.net.au

MRC 2010 will be our 20th year Anniversary, and as such Im keen to make it the biggest MRC ever. MRC 2009 will be a good opportunity to try something new, in preparation for next year. It may also be a time to try something low key, saving your efforts for 2010.

Id like to get things moving, so can you please let me know if you'd like to participate this year, and your preferred location. We can start to create the chain for the message, or consider opportunities that new locations & people, may present.

It has been suggested we could benefit from a regular (ie monthly / fortnightly / weekly) online discussion. Can you let me know you preference in applications such as; Skype, PalTalk, eQso which all have multi user chat capabilities.

Please reply so we can get started on MRC2009.

Thanks

Tony vft355

LIVE STREAMING 11M FROM EUROPE

Tired of listening to the zzz on 555. Well tune in to a 11m feed for a taste of some EU skip. The feed is from the shack of 18SD001, Jim. Located in Greece, you can hear stations from all over the EU when the props are in. Just click on the link below. You need either Realplayer or Winamp for the feed.

A new 11m DX service has started up. Thanks to 74THD001, Michael, who is the Site Admin behind this project. Set up along the lines of the amateur QRZ, in the future, you will be able to look up a callsign & find the details of the operator.

Wishing Michael all the success for this project. I hope he gets the 11m DX community support behind him.

EXCERPT FROM QRZ11:-
How QRZ11.COM was founded

QRZ11 was founded in 2007 by Michael Rudloff (V51RU).
The idea building the website QRZ11.COM cam first, when I saw the fantastic radio amateur website QRZ.COM.( Congratulations to Fred Lloyd, AA7BQ )
I thought that a site like QRZ.COM could also help the 11 meter community very much. So the idea of QRZ11.COM was born.

QRZ11.COM is a database and a help-platform for all 11 meter radio operators from all over the word. Here radio operators have the opportunity to publish there QSL-information. This information helps the 11 meter community in every way. Especially, when bad propagation, or any other disturbance interfere a nice QSO.

QRZ11.COM is owned and operated by Michael Rudloff and is located in Windhoek, Namibia. There is no storefront, no office building, no receptionist, and no paid staff. This low cost operating structure has enabled us to remain continuously online and free to the 11 meter community since January 2007.

What is the meaning of QRZ?
Back in the days when radio telegraphy was widely used, QRZ was a shorthand code that meant, "Who is calling me?" It is still used today, even by voice operators during contests or when they simply didn't hear the complete call.

If you'd like to contact Michael by email, please write to michael@qrz11.com
